An overnight flight to Paris — and a promise I made to myself.
In April 2024, I flew to Paris with my daughter in coach. She slept the whole flight — on me. I landed exhausted and made myself a promise: never again.
A few months later, I was on my way to Sicily and got a last-minute bid upgrade to business class. The meter said it had no chance of being approved. It was. The moment I walked into that airport lounge — and then stepped into the cabin — I understood what I'd been missing. That one experience changed how I think about travel forever.
By January 2025, I was obsessed. I set out to learn everything: how to earn as many points as possible from the spending I was already doing, how to find award space, and how to redeem for real value instead of pennies on the dollar. Since then I've been to Sicily (again), Puerto Rico, Prague, Miami, and more — most of it on points. The strategy works. I know because I've lived it.
